Playing with Fire

Could not put this down at all. Carried everywhere until it was finished.

To a lot of people this must seem like a work of fiction but to those of us who have been the target ( I prefer this to the word victim) of serial con men like this, it gives us a sense of being horrified that people are capable of this kind of behaviour, highly saddened at the devastation caused and extremely validating that we are not alone in having our lives ripped apart by someone who couldn't lie straight in bed.

Unless you have experienced this kind of relationship betrayal it is difficult to begin to imagine how this could even happen never mind the consequences of the lies, manipulation and control that goes into faking a whole persona throughout a whole relationship just to feed an ego and to have only their own needs met. Then to be discarded and realise that you were never really important to them is a whole different kind of betrayal.

The sheer amount of women I have met or spoken to that this has happened to in one form or another is staggering and the patriarchal system that allows this to continue while shaming the targets into silence needs to be drastically overhauled.

I think for me it is made all the more relevent as it is local to where I live and seems more 'real'.

Excellent read I would highly recommend this book.
