Coleen Greenwood

Coleen Greenwood is a British memoirist based in the Yorkshire Dales, best known for her true-life memoirs co-written with her twin sister, Karen Crear. Her breakout book, Playing With Fire: The True Story of Fireman Scam, chronicles her harrowing experience with a man who posed as a heroic firefighter but turned out to be a manipulative con artist, Greg Wilson, whose deceit deeply impacted Coleen and her family.

She followed up with Healing From The Burns: Life After Fireman Scam, detailing her and Karen's journey of healing, recovery, and resilience after the trauma, and after the conman was brought to justice and jailed.

Coleen uses her personal story as a platform to support and empower other survivors of emotional abuse and coercive control. She has shared her story widely across national media, including ITV's This Morning, BBC Radio 4's You & Yours, Channel 4's Steph's Packed Lunch and ITV News, and her story has been adapted into two true crime documentaries, Red Flag on U (UKTV) and Love Cheats on Channel 4. A screenplay based on her story is currently in development.

Her memoirs have resonated widely: Playing With Fire became a #1 podcast in the UK on Apple Podcasts ("Love-Bombed with Vicky Pattison") and has built a strong following of readers, with an average rating around 4.4 stars. From every book sold, Coleen and Karen donate a portion of proceeds to Women's Aid.
