A man and woman smile with coffee mugs, sitting by a laptop labeled Crear Publishing. A cat and books are on the desk. Text: About us.

We’re Ryan and Karen, the founders of Crear Publishing, a small but mighty independent publisher based in County Durham, built on a shared love of books, storytelling and championing new voices.

Crear Publishing was created with one simple idea in mind: stories matter. Whether it’s an emotional poetry collection, a gripping novel, a children’s adventure or a deeply personal memoir, we believe books have the power to connect people, spark imagination and leave a lasting impact.

From the very first conversation with an author through to holding the finished book in our hands, we work closely together to make each project feel personal, collaborative and meaningful. We know how much courage, passion and hard work goes into writing a book, and we genuinely care about helping our authors feel supported throughout the journey.

For us, publishing has never been just about producing books. It’s about building relationships, creating opportunities and helping stories find the readers they deserve. Every author we work with becomes part of the Crear family, and every book we publish is one we wholeheartedly believe in.

As independent publishers, we’re also passionate about supporting local creativity, literacy and community events across the North East. From book launches and author signings to literary festivals and school projects, we love bringing people together through stories.

We may be a small independent publisher, but our ambitions are big, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us so far. Whether you’ve bought a book, attended an event, shared our posts or simply followed our journey online, thank you. It genuinely means the world to us.

We’re so excited for what’s still to come.
